CHP INTRODUCES HEALTHY? FIND OUT!

Through a community grant from the District of Columbia Department of Health and DC Cancer Consortium, Community Health Partnership, Inc. has implemented a touch screen health kiosk program in Ward Four.

The kiosk program -- called Healthy? Find Out! -- was developed by the Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention at the Harvard School of Public Health. The Community Health Partnership is enabled to develop the health kiosk program, in part, due to the generous support from the Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention and the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis; DC Cancer Consortium and DC Department of Health.

Healthy? Find Out! will provide DC residents with convenient neighborhood access to risk assessments and prevention information for twelve cancers, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis and stroke.

Thank you to our sponsors, supporters and volunteers! We could not do it without your help!

HEALTH FESTIVAL 2011 was hosted by Nativity Catholic Church on June 04, 2011. The festival was a heartfelt and overwhelming successful community event. 427 metro area residents, including the homeless gathered together to receive free screenings for diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease, and HIV/AIDS. Referrals for free breast and colon cancer screenings were provided by Howard University Cancer Center and Georgetown Lombardi Cancer Center. All attendees received door prizes, plus free healthy nutritional meals courtesy of CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. We were blessed with a bright sunny day, festive street music and happy children.

The Health Festival is an annual event that is critical to our mission. We owe its continued success to our sponsors, CHP board of directors, community support and many volunteers.
